A few months ago we discussed the consequences by duplicating content. But some people continue copying content from one blog to another, even though it is penalized by Google. And the worst thing is that the one who loses is you. Why? Because if the blog that copies your content is better positioned than yours, Google will first crawl its link.
For this reason, we have decided to provide some guidelines to avoid them copying the content of your blog, as far as possible.
- Add a plugin to your blog that disables the text selection option, such as the WP-CopyProtect or WordPress Prevent Copy Paste Plugin. Although it is not a definitive solution, because they can rewrite it, at least it eliminates the facility of Ctrl C + Ctrl V, ie the “copy & paste”.
- As we have mentioned, being the author doesn’t mean that your post will be indexed first. But you have to achieve it. How? Help yourself from authority pages that offer “ping” services to your blog, such as Tumblr.com or Sumbleupon.com. In this way, when you publish your post, you will already have quality links pointing to your site.
- If they are copying you, you are doing it right, so take advantage of it! How? Just add a link to your blog in the posts you write. Most copies are made automatically from RDD, so when they copy the content of your post, they will include the link as well. This way you will benefit from the authority that the other blog has.
If that’s not enough, you can always request Google to remove the content or request WordPress.com to remove the blog that is copying your content. You can also file a report with the host page that is stealing your content. If you don’t know which provider it is, you can find out with the tool called Who is hosting this?
