At the beginning of a SEO project the first step is always to study the keywords we are going to use… Which words will we pick to target the campaign? The choice is difficult: if we choose words that promise many searches, we can fall into the chase of the golden one, dreaming of a goal that is too difficult to reach and we will consume all our strength and resources along those way. If instead we make a choice focused on “residual” words just because we have a feeling, we can spend months scratching our heads and wondering – But if I’m first, why don’t I get visitors?

Another huge problem in relation to choosing keywords for natural search engine positioning is the volume. How many words are we going to position? … The number of words that can be directly associated with a business is large, and if we talk about product related words, then there are a lot more. Am I going to position them all? Obviously, wanting to do that would be a problem, since the time we have is limited and the dispersion can be dangerous (those who cover a lot do not press much).

So it is important to have an appropriate strategy that allows us to make our job not an unachievable goal: that’s why I’m going to give you a series of guidelines that will help you in your search engine positioning projects:

  1. Begin by carrying out a meticulous study: spend hours “playing” with the project you have in hand, investigating what are the ways that the user has to search for the associated services and products. Study the competition, see what words they are using, both on their web pages (look closely at the page titles), their Adwords ads (if any) or, even more importantly, the words that trigger those ads. When it seems to you that they are starting to wander, to waste time, then, at that moment, you will be doing well.
  2. Identify the search string well: don’t stay with “the word”, look for the search string composed of several words, their prepositions and order… Look for the whole string and keep in mind that if you position a string like “Web Design Barcelona”, within that search string you will include the simpler string, “Web Design Barcelona”. In this way you will be using the same effort to achieve several objectives to the web and, in addition, you will be providing diversity to the content of your web page, escaping from the work of the “SEO SPAMMER”, every day more penalized.
  3. For the monitoring, “Don’t go crazy”: use the same criteria I mentioned in the previous point and “follow” the evolution of the most representative and broadest words. Select a specific group of words for each type or category of products/services related to the project in question. This will provide you with general and valid information to be able to follow faithfully and to be able to anticipate possible events.
  4. AdWords, for an accurate shot: many times, despite having made a scrupulous analysis and a good work in general, we can still have doubts; the big problem in this sense is that the results of the work of an SEO are not visible immediately, it can take several months to bear fruit and sometimes, to realize a deviation after 4 months of work, is a real problem. For this reason, if you have any doubts, what I recommend is that you start a search engine advertising campaign, buying the keywords that we have selected and carrying out a small test, not so much of the amount of users that visit our web, but of their behavior once they have arrived at our site.

We hope that these little tips will be useful fo you: remember that we are here for whatever you need and we will be happy to answer your questions… We promise that, if we don’t know the answer, we will look for it! ?
