A few days ago, Twitter launched “Spaces” a feature that allows users to join virtual rooms where they can engage in real-time audio conversations with others.
This new feature aims to increase Twitter’s daily active user base to 315 million by the end of 2023. Spaces will be available to users with more than 600 followers.
What is Twitter Spaces?
Spaces will allow users to hear the voices of the people they follow and talk about what is happening in real time. Twitter Spaces will also allow users to have short, intimate voice conversations and large-scale discussions with thousands of listeners about any type of content.
Moreover, Twitter Spaces has built-in security controls that can be used by hosts. This includes the host’s ability to mute the speaker and remove them from the space. Users can also notify and block other users as needed.
In recent months, user feedback has been very important in helping Twitter build and improve Twitter Spaces.
How Spaces will work
The principle of how Spaces will work is as follows: when having a real-time conversation, Twitter users will see purple bubbles appear at the top of their Twitter profile.
Users will be able to click on these purple bubbles to join “spaces”, spaces where conversation takes place with other users on the same platform.
After joining, the user can send a message or request to talk via Twitter or directly to the Space host. As the owner of the space, users will be able to adjust their room by inviting others, choosing who can talk and removing unwanted users.
Twitter Spaces Reminders
Scheduling and setting reminders for Twitter Spaces will also be available soon. Hosts will be able to schedule and set reminders for upcoming Spaces in the coming weeks. More features include shared hosting spaces and live captioning enhancements.
Spaces and Clubhouse: Two very similar features
Spaces is a voice-based live audio conversation tool very similar to “Clubhouse,” whose platform was iOS-based when it launched (though an Android version is in the works). Twitter says that eventually Spaces will be rolled out for all operating systems.
With the rapid popularity of Clubhouse, Spaces has caught up with the audio sharing trend. It’s similar to “clubhouse pay,” which allows creators to earn money and thrive on the platform.
It’s worth remembering that Clubhouse started the phenomenon of voice chat apps.

Twitter Ticket Spaces: A new way to earn money
Twitter announced that it is developing a feature called “Ticket Spaces”. This new feature will allow users to create spaces that require other people to purchase tickets to join. This is to allow users to monetize Spaces and motivate them to host more real-time audio conversations on Twitter.
Twitter, the bluebird social network, said organizers will get most of the revenue from ticket sales, while Twitter will retain a small amount of revenue. In the coming months, ticketing will begin rolling out to a limited number of users.
