TikTok takes a new leap forward with an application aimed at sellers: TikTok Seller. This app is a commercial tool for brands to manage all the details of their product catalogues in a specific space on the social network.

The platform has stated, and I quote:

TikTok Seller allows sellers to manage their TikTok shop via mobile phone. It has features such as seller registration, product management, order management, returns and refunds management, as well as promotion management, customer service, data analysis, campaign registration and an educational section for sellers, among other functions.

The TikTok Seller app is currently only available for brands in Indonesia, but is expected to be available worldwide soon.

 

 

An app in the early stages of development, but very promising

 

For the time being, and given that Tik Tok Seller is in its early stages, its current functions are very basic. But, according to the platform, its goal is to refine the way it works in order to increase the app’s sales performance.  It would do this by making it easier for brands to manage their TikTok product listings in an agile way and without time or location limitations. 

The company’s spokesperson said:

We are always looking for ways to improve our community experience and regularly test new features that inspire creativity, joy and innovation in the TikTok experience. Brands on TikTok have found a creative outlet to authentically connect with their audience. We are excited to experiment with new commercial opportunities that allow our community to discover and engage with what they love.

 

 

Will TikTok become an eCommerce?

 

TikTok’s evolution has been matched by its sales functions. The platform launched the Seller University website in Indonesia as a hub to help local sellers boost their business on TikTok.

It also created a series of tools for sellers to add a shopping tab to their TikTok profiles, creating mini-windows with product catalogues.

In late 2021 TikTok also introduced the Creator Next service, a programme that helps TikTok creators monetise their activity while building their own community. Creators who join Creator Next can access features and tools that will allow them to grow TikTok.

Not to be forgotten is TikTok Creator Marketplace, another eCommerce feature for users through Creator Next. With it, creators with a minimum of 10,000 followers will be able to register on the marketplace and collaborate with brands that match their style.

As we can see, TikTok is sharpening its pencil to help shape marketing strategies – its one billion and growing users will have the final say.
