Both have the same objective, the organic positioning of the web for which the two types of SEO are being carried out. But each one is applied in different areas; inside and outside. To differentiate the SEO on page from the SEO off page, it is not only enough to take into account which actions are done inside the web and which are done outside. It is true that in this way we will be able to differentiate most of the areas in which these techniques are applied, but to better understand this we will give an example with a physical location.

My place will be a bakery:

  • The bread, the empanadas, the shelf full of Neapolitan, the laces that I have put in the bread baskets, the blackboards announcing the prices of the day, and in general everything inside my bakery that makes it a place where the client finds what he was looking for and feels comfortable, that is my SEO on Page.
  • If for Father’s Day I prepare a raffle of an empanada among my clients of the week it would be an off page SEO action. Or if they call me because they want to interview me about how I became a baker, also if I decide to make bags to keep the bread with my logo or something similar to bring my clients, also, we would talk about SEO Off Page. All the actions that come from outside, or that I make outside even if they end up in my bakery will be Off Page actions.

Broadly speaking, On Page SEO refers to the organic positioning of our website in search engines using internal tools such as web content, improving the usability of the site with friendly URLs or the loading speed of the site. Another important aspect of On Page is indexation, using the key words within our work area, as well as H1’s and titling the images published with our content, we will achieve a better ranking for when Google indexes us.

While the Off Page SEO refers to inbound links from other websites that will help us move up the Google ranking. Social media, such as Facebook or Twitter, are also very important in this respect, as through them we can attract new users and ensure that our content is shared, reaching a considerable number of people. Press releases on our website are another requirement for achieving a good web positioning, as are directories or social bookmarks where we can publish our quality content, always of high quality.
