After a fairly intense start to the year with a first quarter with continuous search algorithm updates, Google has faced the month of April with more peace of mind. Anyway, the Mountain Viewers work tirelessly. And after the announcement of the delay of the Page Experience Update until mid-June, a new update of the search algorithm arrives. An update with a significant impact also on local search.

This new update to Google’s algorithm took place around Friday, April 23. And it could be related to the recent indexing problems that Google has had in recent days. Between April 9 and 17, a bug that affected the detection of soft 404 errors could be detected (a URL that returns a page in which the user is informed that the page they were looking for does not exist and also shows a code status 200).

In the different search algorithm volatility monitoring tools we can see this new update:

And, as we said, its impact on local SEO can also be appreciated, as expressed by the BrightLocal tool:

Regarding the accounts we manage at Sinapsis, we have observed that 39% of our websites show an upward trend after this new update. On the other hand, 30.5% have suffered a negative impact showing a downward trend. And the final 30.5% is stable.

As usual, at Sinapsis we continue to monitor any possible variation in the search algorithm and we are already taking the necessary measures to counteract its negative effects.
