Between the past 5 and 6 days, Google’s search algorithm volatility tracking tools showed a significant fluctuation that is difficult to interpret. As you know, on March 23, Google launched the March 2022 product reviews update. Their third product review update and it should roll out over the course of several weeks.

Google has not yet reported that the development of this update has been completed. And while it appears to many SEO analysts that this third product review update isn’t having as much of an impact as its predecessors, this significant fluctuation spotted by tracking tools could be related. Or not. It could just be a new update to the silly independent search algorithm.

Be that as it may, in the different tools we can observe a notable variation in the variability of the algorithm:

Semrush Sensor:

VOLATILIDAD DEL ALGORITMO DE BÚSQUEDA DE GOOGLE semrush

Advanced Web Rankings:

VOLATILIDAD DEL ALGORITMO DE BÚSQUEDA DE GOOGLE advanced web ranking

SERPmetrics:

VOLATILIDAD DEL ALGORITMO DE BÚSQUEDA DE GOOGLE serpmetrics

Accuranker:

Cognitive SEO:

RankRanger:

Mozcast:

Tails of the March 2022 product reviews update or new update?

As we mentioned above, a priori it is difficult to determine the focus of this fluctuation. But a little analysis of its effects may offer us a little more information. The Semrush Sensor tool performs a study of the effects of volatility by category. From this study, we can see that the most affected categories are Arts and Entertainment, Online Communities, Sports, People and Society, Games, and Computers and Electronics. On the other hand, the least affected categories are Travel, Health, Food and Drink and Real Estate, the latter being the one that has received the least impact.

VOLATILIDAD DEL ALGORITMO DE BÚSQUEDA DE GOOGLE

This small analysis tells us that, perhaps, this variation of the algorithm is not related to the March 2022 product reviews update and we are facing a new update of the algorithm. What do you think?
