Web architecture is the method that encompasses the organization of information and contents of a web page by adding categories among its elements. It is specialized in the design and construction of applications that will be used on the internet through the HTTP protocol to communicate with clients or web applications.

 

Web architecture models

The most widely used types of web architecture are generally two.

  • Flat web architecture. This type is based on a low-level model. It is the type of structure that we most commonly find on the Internet. Its structure allows the upper pages to have greater power, creating a quality main menu we will make that authority emanate optimally.
  • Vertical web architecture. It has greater depth and is not recommended for pages whose purpose is the conversion of KPI’s since the visitor will have to click more times. It is most useful on pages where a single product or service is displayed. The URL’s of the websites with this type of architecture are more complicated to crawl by search engines

 

Importance of web architecture.

There are many websites lacking an acceptable architecture that is capable of guiding users towards what they want to find. Being able to structure a web page well is very important in terms of:

  • Usability. If users cannot find what they are looking for, we will not be able to convert them into potential customers. With usability we will be able to guide them where they have to go to reach us who are offering just what they need.
  • SEO. The way the web is organized will help the search engine to know where to find the most relevant content.
  • Competence. Depending on what we do, we will have several products on our website that are similar for us but not for the search engine. Therefore we will have to specify to the search engine which of them is the most important if we do not want to compete against ourselves. So that this does not happen we can easily solve it with an internal linking structure.
