Teleworking or remote work is a type of work that allows employees to work remotely in a place other than the company. It is carried out from a location far from the company’s offices, the most common is that it is carried out from home. Through the new information and communication technologies, employees can carry out this work in the same way as if they were in the company.

It is not something new or recent, many companies already had this way of working among their workers. Due to the state of alarm and the confinement suffered by Covid-19, teleworking grew exponentially. Not all companies were prepared for this change, so they had to adapt to this modality.

The Law that regulates teleworking or remote work came into force on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. But it was not until Tuesday, September 22, 2020 that the New Telework Law was approved in the Congress of Ministers. Its entry into force was on Tuesday, October 13 and with it the new regulation was approved. The expenses incurred for workers from electricity and technical equipment will be borne by the company as if it were working in person.

Some of the advantages of teleworking are the saving of time and money on the part of the worker. By not having to physically travel to the workplace, we can say that it is a significant saving, especially in large cities where distances are greater. Another advantage, in this case for the employer, is that the employee’s productivity increases since his mood improves considerably.

Definitely telecommuting benefits both parties and it is certainly here to stay.
